My gums bleed when i brush my teeth?

My gums bleed when I brush my teeth..Every time. It doesn't hurt or anything.. I use a soft toothbrush so yeah.. I'm 13 btw. Should I tell my parents? Is there anything I can maybe try before I tell them? Like that toothpaste they have? I get freaked out about the dentist so that's why I'm.. stalling about telling them. :/ Is it gingivitis?
