Question about electric toothbrush?

I recently purchased sonicare toothbrush, and it's been perfect for me. However, the toothpaste doesn't distribute well throughout the entire area when I apply it, so is it okay to brush it as sections (left - center - right) by using smaller amount of toothpaste 3 times. Sorry for the long question and thanks in advance
