I think this teaching is in breach of Mt 15:2, 8,9 and is treating the man as like a lord or an idol.

It seems clear to me looking at the Koine that 1 Cor 11:1-9 is about the headship arrangement and the fact that at that time the Corinthians had to cover their head as it was seen as shameful to some if they didn't and the woman had to listen to the 'authority' of her husband in that regard. Verse 10 simply says 'Therefore the woman has to have authority at her head for/by/because of the angels'. By adding in the words 'sign of' in modern Greek version as you can see at www.watchtower.org, you have taken away the double meaning intended in this scripture. The word 'dia' in Koine is exactly the same in meaning as 'por' in Spanish. The double meaning intended is that just as the woman has/accepts 'authority at her head' it is the same for the angels 'dia tous angelous' (this website is now preventing typing in Greek letters). This would be in Spanish 'Por lo tanto la mujer debe tener autoridad a la cabeza por los angeles'. Anyone who speaks Spanish will see what I mean. A lot of the Koine scriptures are clearly inspired by Holy Spirit and have such intended double meanings. Adding in words which aren't in the text does take away Jehovah's intended double meanings and is against Rev. 22:18-19. The man is head of the woman, but we are not to teach as doctrines the traditions of man - Jehovah's opinion is that she has her hair as a wrapping 1 Cor 11:10 - cross ref. 'wrapping' where the same Greek word is found at Heb. 1:12 and mistranslated as 'cloak'. See Mt 15:9. Also when women did prophesy something which was not according to his teaching and was without his consent and at the same time happened to be wearing headcoverings - look at what happened! - Ezekiel 13:17-21. I strongly suggest that Jehovah's Witnesses seek linguistic evidence of the meaning of words from the Koine texts themselves - by cross referencing and looking at the context within the bible in the original tongues and stop referring to advice from other clergy! I too can find other clergy who have translated this the same way as me, but that is not proper linguistic evidence as I can see that they have mistranslated the bible in other places - e.g. Joseph Fitzmyer (First Corinthians (electronic resource: a new translation with introduction and commentary). However I would disagree with Fitzmyer's use of the word 'churches' being used instead of 'congregations' in places (at a recent trip to Cambridge University Library - 400th anniversary of King James Bible I saw evidence of the British parliament intervening to ensure the word 'churches' was used in translation of the bible instead of 'congregations' which is wrong). Hence do you see why it is so important that you do not refer to other bibles or other clergy for proof of how words should be translators? If I am right in this are you not scared that your teaching might be idolatrous as this translation in my opinion originates with Catholicism and also the Church of England.

Hat has given you the best answer. Although there are KATUSAs, they are not used for everything that calls for Korean to English translation.The KATUSAs are not a part of the US Army, but augmentees. Therefore, they DO NOT do a large portion of th MI work that calls for Korean linguists as they do not have the clearance for many things. There is much US only operations that KATUSA are not allowed to do. Additionally, there are other places Korean linguist are needed by ALL branches of the military; not just the Army. It is still one of the top five and has not fallen by the wayside as someone here has suggested. BTW, they are always training most languages at DLI for two reasons. People are always getting out as some point on their career and need to be replaced from time to time. If they didn't train new folks all the time, there would be a shortage of those folks real soon. Second, just because there are a lot of people out there that speak some of the more common languages like German and French, doesn't mean they can get a clearance. Without a clearance, in many cases they are useless to the military.

Should pet birds be kept outside, all the time, even at night?

I have two parakeets and one lovebird whom I love very much. I spend a lot of time with the lovebird as the parakeets do not favor human attention. I am constantly bickering with my dad about where the birds should be kept. He always wants them outside, at all times. He complains about their feathers making a mess when they only really molt in the spring and hardly shed any feathers otherwise. Their molting cycle has come to an end and now shed almost nothing. Our whole house is a mess (most of it being his girlfriend's clutter) and all he can complain about are a few bird feathers (which I said I would gladly clean up). We live close to some mountains and our neighborhood is notorious for the coyotes who have eaten every outdoors cat. We constantly have raccoons and they have been known to snack on caged birds (at least kill them) and pond fish. It's my responsibility to make sure they are brought in every night, which I do. My dad has a problem with them coming in at night, however, and makes sure to bring it up every single day. He wants to keep them out there, covered up and never to bring them in. He thinks they're happier outside just because he hears them chirp in the morning. They chirp wherever they are, even if it's pitch black. The breeder who sold them to us stressed to us to keep them inside at night, covered up. My father has a "holier than thou" attitude, along with his girlfriend and constantly claims only what they think is right. He also refuses to take one of the parakeets to the vet, who has a weird growth on it's nose. He claims he's seen it fall off, which it has not done; everything I've looked up about it says it needs to be checked out. I'm baffled by how much they supposedly know when they've never bothered to look anything up themselves. The girlfriend has this mindset than all animals should be kept outside at all times, which has led to out dog being outside all the time, even in our cold winters. I'm tired of arguing and just want what's best for the birds. Am I wrong about the birds needing to be inside at night?

Dont be too freaked out, it's really just a nusciance that lasts a lifetime; After the first outbreak, it is similar to having a mosquito bite or two, that comes and goes. My husband and I both have it, and we didnt get it from each other! It can only be spread through sex, not toothbruses or clothes, now HSV -1, mouth sores can be spread with the toothbrush, but that is a different virus. If you have it, you will know it, no need for a doctor visit, just be safe and use condoms, every time. It is very devestating news to anyone, I wanted to kill myself due to the stigma of it, and how bad my mother made me feel about it...but, after I found out that 1 in every 7 people you meet will also have it, it became not such a big deal, just no one wants to talk about it, so it seems aweful... but again, it is not. Try to comfort her and share this news with her; to avoid spreading it, she must insist on condom use, you are contagious days before the outbreak even appears, so you never know...I know when its coming due to the tired achey all over feelings I get with low grade fever, but then the actual "outbreak" only lasts for two days, and may go years betwwen another "outbreak"...especially if zoviarx cream is started right away, and used each time, they will become less frequent. They like to prescribe a pill now, but I find the topical works better, and I only use that when I need it...I hate taking pills and being a slave to big pharma. There is no cure, so again, my advice is to use the cream only, it is soothing, the pills are not. Its no big deal, ok...cold sores are the same virus, just affecting the mouth instead of the genitals...an inconience yes, contageous, yes, devestating, no...take it easy, be re assuring, it is NOT the end of the world, and its just part of the human condition.

Still have Thrush please help.?I went to see my dr last a couple weeks ago for various reasons she looked in my throat and saw a white film did a test and I had thrush. Well she gave me fluconase? 1oo mg 1 x a day for 5 days and 300 ml of nystatin oral suspension 3x a day 2 teaspoons. I still have while crap on my tounge and taste yeast when i burp. The nystatin is almost gone and I have been off of the fluconase a few days now. How will i know when it is gone and how do i get the crap off my tounge? I bought 12 toothbrushes in the morning i bush and scrub and use the nystatin 6 hrs later i just use the nystatin then i brush and scrub in the evening and use it and throw the brush away. I dunno what else to do, my main question is how will i know when it is gone and isnt in my intestines or throat and how do i get the crap outta my mouth. I have never cut myself, but if I ever felt like that, I would look at neon colors. Bright, happy colors. Positive. Don't think of the negatives. Just positive. Three times a day seems a bit excessive for a kid but I don't think you are going overboard about brushing. It is important that he starts the habit at a young age. Obviously, if his mom had made him do it when he was little then it probably wouldn't be a problem now. I agree that charts are too young for him. Unfortunately, you will just have to be on his back until he does it. Make sure it is part of his "getting ready in the morning" and "getting ready for bed" routine. If you ask him every time and make him stop what he is doing to brush his teeth, I think he will catch on pretty quickly.

Is anxiety ruining my relationship?

Just recentley I got diagnosed with OCD and many other anxiety disorders. My mind has always really scewed things and made me very afraid of commitment, people, and scared of myself. About a year ago I was worried that the world would end, then that thought disapated. Then I was worried that i was blasphamous and full of sin, and scared of the devil. Then that went away after a couple months, me realizing that was very irrational. Then I woke up one day, and was scared me and my boyfriend were'nt meant for eachother and our relationship is fizzling. We didnt have a major fight, we get along really well, we love eachother. My mind has just been in constant battle with the thought for over a month. It is seriously the first thing I think about when I get up in the morning, and the last thing I think about when I go to bed. It also causes me to have major diahreah :( But now that this is going on and I'm having all these problems and anxiety about it, it really makes me think. Maybe its my gut saying HOLY **** what are you doing??? Yes I will admit that when our relationship first started I was kind of skeptical because I thought I might be too much for him. But the more we hung out, the more I liked him, and the more I cared about him. I see good things in him, and he is absolutley wonderful. I wouldn't change him for the world :) But now my anxiety is making me doubt everything, and its starting to make me become detached from him and my relationship.
